Juvéderm Q&A

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is the brand name of a collection of dermal fillers primarily used to smooth lines and wrinkles on the face. Juvederm uses a modified form of hyaluronic acid, a substance that is naturally found in the body, to improve facial volume. Hyaluronic acid is responsible for providing nutrients to the skin, improving softness and moisture retention in addition to adding volume to achieve a more youthful appearance.

Dr. Karbasi must assess your expectations for treatment, examine your face to determine the appropriate treatment areas, and address any concerns before selecting which type of Juvederm is best for you. If you have questions about Juvederm or concerns about the signs of aging, contact Dr. Karbasi for a consultation appointment.

What are the advantages of Juvederm?

Juvederm is a safe and effective way to treat undesirable wrinkles and folds on the face that have developed due to aging, sun exposure, and other factors. The procedure has been shown to lift and contour the cheeks with results lasting up to two years. Moderate to severe lines and wrinkles on the face are smoothed, with results lasting up to one year post-treatment. What’s more, it has also been shown to plump lips, providing satisfactory and attractive results for up to a year afterwards.

How does Juvederm work?

You will meet with Dr. Karbasi one-on-one before getting your Juvederm treatment. During this consultation, he will determine if you are a good candidate for the treatment and whether it is the right choice for addressing your particular needs.

The actual session will be conducted in your doctor’s office. The product contains a local anesthetic such as lidocaine which help  minimize any discomfort you may experience during the Injection. A fine needle is used to inject the gel dermal filler directly into the skin of the designated treatment areas. The brief procedure lasts only 15 to 20 minutes.
